June 2008

Ethan is 4! He still loves any vehicles and plays cars all day. In fact our couch is no longer a couch it is a complete city for all of his cars. He also loves to play Wii. He plays Wii Fit all by himself. If he can't play it for real then he pretends to play guitar hero for hours straight. Ryan listens to the same pretend guitar noise for maybe 3 hours everyday and i wonder why he isn't crazy yet. :) Ethan uses everything that he can find for a guitar. We just finished our first 2 week session of swim lessons. He did great. The first days he would cling to me for dear life. By the end he was splashing around the 1 and 2 feet sections all by himself. Also, it was reinforced that Ethan does not like being cold at all! One day it was about 85 and windy and he was just so cold that he said "I'm done" about 15 minutes into class. So there were 2 days when we didn't even go to lessons because it was too chilly.

Paige is a little mini-me. She is a little independant girl with quite a temper when she gets frustrated. She doesn't want help with anything until she gives it many, many tries. Her frustrations have started to decrease now that she has learned that "Please" and "Help" get her what she wants most of the time. She is really trying to talk and it's great! Paigy loves to play outside and does every chance that she gets. Ethan still likes to play outside, but lately he chooses to play inside because he doesn't like to put sunscreen on.

Ethan is really into taking care of his little sister. This past weekend they stayed at Nandee's house (grandma) and he slept in the same room as Paige to keep an eye on her. Its really great to see that especially since he will becoming a big brother x2 very soon. Two weeks ago we received and accepted 2 referrals. One for a baby boy 3 months old and one for a baby girl 5 months old. We are so excited! We can't post pictures or descriptions yet because they aren't officially ours until the agency represents us in the Ethiopian courts. Once we pass court we will post everything. We don't know what the timeline is still. The courts shut down for about 2 months in the July-Sept timeframe. We are hoping we make it through court before then but our agency isn't sure if we will. Once we pass court it is approx 1 month before we can travel to pick them up. If we make it through before the shutdown we will be going in aug-early sept. If we don't make it through before the shutdown it will be more like Nov. Once we bring the babies home I will take sabbatical for 8 weeks and then within a month after that we have to move to Phoenix for a temporary work assignment until ~ next summer/fall. Whew, a lot of changes comming up! While we wait we are trying to figure out everything we need. We are set on clothes and toys! We are trying to figure out the sleeping arrangements, car seats (can we get by without a baby carseat for one of the babies), new bottles (yep, all of ours have BPA and we figure why take the risk, so we have to find a new type), and the biggest thing is how to help Paige and Ethan with the adjustment. We are expecting a rough time with Paige.

Ah, i can't seem to upload any pictures. I will try again tomorrow, sorry!
